I have been thrifting for many years now (probably around +10 years), and I tried to remember exactly how it started. I realized that it never began with clothing. My primary focus in thrift shops used to be furniture and home accessories. I picked items that had the potential of being a beautiful addition to my home with a little love and care.
I was hooked, why would you buy new stuff if there is so much more life and character in the older pieces? I quickly became a regular in the thrift shops of my small home town, and as I spent so much time browsing, I became curious about the clothing aisle. They all looked very sad on sad plastic hangers. But as I was going through them I realized this was full of real gems. Imagine thrifting in the early 2010’s, when it wasn’t such a big hype yet. A whole new world opened up to me. There is a limit to buying furniture and home accessories, but for my closet this didn’t seem to apply (this is still a problem lol)
So I started thrifting somewhere in the 2010’s. I loved everything about it. The rush I felt before I walked in, hoping I would find a gem, the insanely low prices, and yes, even the smell. But some of my friends hated going through smelly old clothes to find maybe one nice piece, but they did like what I bought. And so the idea of reselling my items was born.
I used to buy fast fashion from Zara or H&M because there was no alternative where I lived. As online (second hand) shopping and physical thriftshops grew over the years, I completely dropped that habit. I feel strongly about not supporting these fast fashion chains and in general, isn’t it nicer to buy something no one else is able to buy?
As this post is basically a ‘Throwback Tuesday’, I thought it would be fun to look back on my favorite thrift finds of the past 6 months.

bottom left: printed sheer midi skirt
right: beautiful leather maxi skirt, I am obsessed with it but haven’t found an occasion to wear it to yet. I am sure I will someday!
#jackets
Top left: a super soft pig leather grey-ish jacket.
Bottom left: Ducati racer jacket
Right: I am wearing a brown Calvin Klein leather jacket. It’s my all time favorite classic leather jacket.
#shoes
I found these #mermaidcore shoes recently. I don’t fit them unfortunately but they caught my eye. Sometimes I am really drawn to more outspoken items, that I can combine with a ‘‘quiet’’ outfit. That said, I also have moods where I don’t care if it looks weird and not ‘put together’. It’s what I most enjoy about dressing myself; really being aware of which mood I am in and matching my outfit to that.
Classic pumps by Yves Saint Laurent, with cute cut out details. A great find that had a small price tag.

It’s impossible to cover everything in one post without it being too lengthy, it was already hard to find my favorites within the gazillion items I have thrifted over the last six months. I hope you enjoyed this post, and let me know which outfit or item is your favorite! <3
Thanks for reading, always.
Love,
Jasmine
I love this. I thrift the majority of my wardrobe too!! I specifically look for items from the 70s and 80s, which means a lot of my clothes are in various stages of falling apart, but I think it’s part of the charm to re-home and repair things that have been well-loved. Your style is so cool!
